Change to the public program: Lectures to be held online starting on 2. November
The Swiss Federal Council has decided that starting on Monday, November 2, 2020, and until further notice, regular teaching at universities must be completely switched to online (distance learning). At the University of St.Gallen, this will also affect the lectures of the public program. From November 2, 2020, and until the end of the fall semester 2020, public lectures will only be held in online format; there will be no lectures on campus during this period. Regisered students will receive information and an access link to their lecture or lecture series by e-mail (if no e-mail address is available, by post or telephone). You will find the course overview on the Public Program platform.
Our professors and external lecturers offer you varied lectures from a wide range of topics each semester. The programme also includes inaugural and farewell lectures by HSG professors and habilitated lecturers.
Semester pass
A semester pass costs 20 CHF and grants access to all public lectures throughout the semester. The billing slip for the pass can be found in the lecture programme in stock at the HSG.
Semester passes for the spring semester 2020 that have already been issued can be exchanged free of charge for a semester pass for the autumn semester 2020.
Inaugural and farewell lectures
Anybody appointed a professor or habilitated lecturer at HSG, holds an inaugural lecture to introduce themselves. Professors going into retirement also say farewell with a lecture. Not just HSG employees, but also you too are welcome to come to these public inaugural and farewell lectures.
Similarly to our public lectures, these inaugural and farewell lectures deal with a number of topics: from business and legal issues to cultural and political aspects.
Readings
The HSG library would be pleased to see you at our bi-yearly event, called "Das andere Buch an der Uni". In addition to reading from their works, the authors enjoy lively discussion with the public about the nature of their works.
Other public lectures
The Children’s University teaches children about business and legal issues in a way that is easy to understand.
The HSG supports regional series of events, the "Monday Forum of Eastern Switzerland". The "Monday Forum" has 16 lectures a year, in that experts will speak about health, philosophy, history and art in the Pfalzkeller.
Each day all our public lectures are updated on our welcome page.
